This song considers the impossible problems of trying to get money for one's art. How can something so precious and heartfelt have a monetary value?

Supposedly, Bix Wutnot wrote this song on the night that he first set out on his glorious adventure to be a busker and "Rag & Bone" entertainer. He had always optimistically believed that Fortune would take a particular shining to his songs... But as we all know, nothing ever happens the way we expect it...
